About us
Growth that reaches every sector.
For many years, tourism was Guyana’s second largest export sector, before the discovery of oil and gas. The new oil and gas industry has made Guyana one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
The Ministry’s mandate is to make sure that growth reaches every sector. That means diversifying the economy, with investment in tourism above all, so that Guyana does not come to depend on oil and gas.
Its core job is to keep Guyana business-friendly: writing policy, developing and amending legislation, and running programmes that help businesses start, grow and trade.
